Winners of Android Contest

This went under my radar when I was busy trying to learn more about Google's new telephone OS, Android. It is the 50 apps that won in the competition Google sponsored. Programmers were asked to write apps explicitly for Android, for those who didn't know, and over 1700 submitted. Nice collection. Androidscan looks super handy. I personally want something that will let me search metacritic for reviews while I'm at blockbuster, but I guess any old mobile web engine would do that for me. But, I will say that the BioWallet (page 3) looks pretty sci-fi. An encryption program that scans your retina for personal authentication? I use the same lame password for every single account, so I'm thinking they had someone else in mind when they wrote this (someone paranoid). Seriously, though, very cool stuff on here. Not surprisingly, a lot of apps are social networking tools that utilize GPS as far as I can tell, which is kind of like an extremely robust version of twitter. I like.
