I have one lost theory, not a whole understanding of the storyline, but a small one. I think Sayid knew Ben before the crash. I think the whole spy episode with Sayid and that girl ("the economist") in season 4 was NOT a flashforward. I think it was in the past which changes the whole dynamics in the Sayid/Ben relationship since ben shows up in last of that scene at the Vet hospital. in the second season I think Sayid also tortures Ben when he was locked in the room behind closed doors and we don't know what all went on in that room or what was said....that's my two cents
